All levels suitable for any age bracket.

Starting age recommended is 8 years old for guitar, students younger than this we would explore the use of a ukulele.

Beginner level; involves both individual and group exercises focusing on:

● Fundamental anatomy
● Recognition of finger numbers, fret numbers
● Strings knowledge
● Introduction to basic finger techniques and two-finger chords
● Learning scales and songs using one string

 

Foundation levels 1, 2, and 3 concentrate on the following points:
 

● Exploring the intricacies of guitar anatomy
● Learning tabs or sheet music basics & getting acquainted with chord charts
● Mastering 3-finger chords
● Understanding major and minor scales and diving into genre-specific scales (eg. blues &
jazz)
● Practicing 2-finger picking techniques
● Perfecting strumming with a guitar pick
● Song and repertoire work
 

Advanced/AMEB level:
 

● Upon completion of levels above or students commencing classes with prior knowledge
and skill set with guitar, we will have a conversation around the next stages where we
can then prepare students for AMEB exams (and other examination bodies)​
